2023 Mazda MX-5 Miata Gets New Color, Price BumpMazda

Mazda has given everyone's favorite roadster, the MX-5 Miata, a small refresh for 2023. In addition to a small price increase across the board, Mazda announced Thursday there's also a new color to choose from: Zircon Sand.

Let's start with pricing. The 2023 MX-5 Miata Sport, the base model, comes in at $29,325 including destination—a little over $1000 more than last year's model. For that you get a high-revving, absolutely delightful 2.0-liter inline-four making 181 hp and 151 lb-ft of torque connected to one of the best six-speed manual transmissions on the market. Mazda's funky Kinematic Posture Control brake vectoring system also comes standard for all Miatas in 2023.

Step up to the Club trim, and you're looking at a starting price of $32,825. For the extra cash, you get Bilstein dampers, a front shock tower brace, a limited-slip differential, and a handful of other changes, including 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, and wireless Apple CarPlay. Want the fancy BBS wheels, Brembo brakes, and Recaro seats? They come as a $4500 optional package on the Club, and we highly recommend checking that box. That Zircon Sand paint we mentioned earlier is available on the Club trim and above as a $395 option, joining Soul red, Machine gray, and Snowflake white Pearl Mica.

The top-of-the-line Grand Touring model will start at $34,325 for 2023 and gets all of the same mechanical upgrades as the Club. It has a host of technology-focused improvements, including adaptive headlights, automatic high beams, traffic sign recognition, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic climate control. There are also specific 17-inch gunmetal wheels. If you don't want to drive stick, you'll have to step up to the Grand Touring model, as it's the only Miata trim available with the six-speed automatic, a $500 option.

If you want the hard-top convertible RF model, you'll have to choose between the Club model or the Grand Touring model, as it's not available with the base trim. For Club models, Mazda also requires you to option the BBS Recaro package if you want an RF, so you'll be paying $39,825. The Grand Touring RF is a bit cheaper, starting at $36,625 for the manual or $37,175 for the automatic.
