  • The Fiat 500e coming to the United States will feature a single motor with 115 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque.

  • Fiat says the 500e’s 42-kWh battery is good for 149 miles of range per charge.

  • The all-electric subcompact is scheduled to show up in US showrooms in the first quarter of 2024, with a $34,095 starting price.

The question is finally answered: Fiat is bringing the all-electric 500e to the United States. Okay, we knew in 2022 that it was happening, but now it’s closer to its delivery window. The folks at Fiat are planning to have 2024 Fiat 500e hatchbacks in its dealerships by the first quarter of 2024. Kicking off the 500e will be a (Product) Red edition that will set you back $34,095.

Powering this battery-electric Fiat 500e is a 42-kWh battery pack that Fiat says is good for 149 miles on a single charge. Stuffing electricity back into this battery pack takes four hours and 15 minutes with an 11-kW Level 2 charger.

Though, the 500e can also charge at 85 kW if you need to get the battery from zero to 80% in 35 minutes. That battery pack feeds a single motor that sends 115 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque through the front wheels. Sprinting to 60 mph will take 8.5 seconds, according to Fiat. Though, if you’re familiar with the European Fiat 500e, these figures shouldn’t be a big surprise.

The inside, too, is basically carried over from the European models. The 500e offers seating for four, a standard 10.25-inch UConnect media screen, and a seven-inch digital instrument cluster. Fiat says Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are making their way to the screen, but this (Product) Red model also will come with standard navigation. The rear seats are split 50/50 and can lay flat to give you more cargo space.

As you’d expect from a BEV in 2024, the Fiat 500e comes with a handful of driver-assistance features, such as standard automatic emergency braking, pedestrian alert, and lane-keep assist.

If you’re wondering why the 500e is carrying the same branding strategy as an iPhone, a mug, or a Ram 1500, there’s an answer. Instead of rolling it out like a traditional car, the company is looking more at a merch-drop strategy.

Like your favorite lifestyle brand or content creator, the 500e will come in a series of drops. Theoretically, this should keep the 500e in demand and could open the door for some wacky branding opportunities in the future.

Only the 500e (Product) Red edition will be available at launch. While that means you’re getting a standard set of features, it also means this is only coming in red. If you want a different color, you’re going to have to wait for the next product drop.
