The Nissan GT-R has been given a much-needed facelift for the 2024 model year. Shown for the first time at the Tokyo Auto Salon on Thursday, the 2024 GT-R gets new fascias front and rear, better aerodynamics, a handful of mechanical updates, and the return of the T-spec trim.

Now in its 17th year of production, Nissan has revised the 2024 GT-R's front bumper with redesigned upper and lower grilles. The upper grille has been thinned and equipped with fang-like end pieces, while the lower section has been given a boxy air opening and a pair of neat cluster of hexagon-shaped daytime running lights. Out back you'll find a smattering of small changes, such as the trim around the quad-exhaust exits, to bring the GT-R into the modern era.

Nissan claims the new bodywork increases downforce while maintaining a drag coefficient of 0.26 Cd—the same as the outgoing model. Engineers went as far as to measure the thickness of the mesh in the front grille and thin it appropriately to enhance cooling and eliminate unnecessary drag, according to Nissan.

Under the hood of the 2024 GT-R sits the same hand-built 3.8-liter twin-turbo V-6 the car has had since the 2020 model year, pushing out the same 565 hp and 467 lb-ft of torque. Power gets to all four wheels via a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and Nissan's ATTESA ET-S all-wheel-drive system, which can vary torque split from front to rear depending on the driving conditions. There are also Bilstein DampTronic adjustable shocks, Brembo brakes, and RAYS 20-inch wheels.

The track-ready GT-R Nismo makes a return for 2024, sporting its own updated bodywork, which includes a 10-percent larger carbon wing with swan-neck style uprights, a new splitter, a new diffuser, and canards. There are also wider tires, carbon-ceramic rotors, a carbon roof, turbochargers from Nissan's GT3 race car, and for the first time, a limited-slip differential for the front axle. Output is unchanged at 600 hp and 481 lb-ft of torque.

Also returning for 2024 is the GT-R T-spec. It gets the base engine but the carbon-ceramic brakes, widened front fenders, and stability control calibration from the Nismo. It also gets a dark Mori green upholstery and two exclusive paint colors taken from the R34-generation Skyline GT-R: Millennium jade and Midnight purple.

Nissan says the 2024 GT-R will begin to arrive at select U.S. dealerships in the spring, with Nismo models coming in the summer. Pricing has yet to be revealed.
