  • The 2025 Chevy Silverado HD lineup adds a Trail Boss trim for the first time ever.

  • In Trail Boss guise, the heavy-duty Silverado features black 20-inch wheels, black bumpers, trim-specific badging, and a Z71-sourced suspension.

  • Chevy says pricing will be released at a later date, but since the Trail Boss is based on the LT and LTZ models, it'll likely cost between about $55K and $65K.

Not everyone can afford the $72,000-plus ZR2, which is the most off-road-capable version of Chevy's heavy-duty pickup truck. That's where the 2025 Chevrolet Silverado HD Trail Boss comes into play. While the company hasn't said how much it'll cost, the new trim should provide a sizable discount.

First-Ever Silverado HD Trail Boss

The light-duty Silverado 1500 has offered a Trail Boss model for quite some time. However, this is the first time that Chevy has applied the off-road-oriented treatment to the Silverado HD. Not only does it bring suspension components from the Z71 version, but it also includes black front and rear bumpers. The black exterior bits also extend to a set of unique 20-inch wheels and more aggressive rubber.

Chevy has only released a single image of the new Silverado HD Trail Boss, but it shows the truck's red tow hooks as well as bedside decals. Inside, we fully expect there to be embroidered headrests and other callouts. The heavy-duty Trail Boss is based on LT and LTZ models, which we expect to start at about $51,000 and $60,000, respectively, for the 2025 model year. We also expect the Trail Boss treatment to add between $4K–$5K to each.

For 2025, Chevy makes other small changes to the Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD lineups. Front and rear parking sensors are now available on the Work Truck, Custom, and LT trim levels; they're standard on the ZR2. There's a new Black-Out package that's available on the Custom, standard adaptive cruise control on the High Country, and new 20-inch wheels for the Midnight Edition.

The Silverado HD comes standard with a 401-hp gas-fed 6.6-liter V-8, and a Duramax diesel 6.6-liter V-8 making 470 horses and 975 pound-feet of torque is optional. Chevy says the 2025 lineup will go on sale sometime this summer, with pricing to be announced closer to that time.
