23-year-old shot and killed leaves ‘legacy of generosity,’ Michigan loved ones say

A 23-year-old who was killed in Detroit, Michigan, is being remembered for his “legacy of generosity,” his loved ones say.

Samuel Gartley was found Monday, June 5, after he was shot near the Russell Industrial Center, Detroit Police Cpl. Dan Donakowski told the Macomb Daily.

Gartley was at work at the industrial center when someone tried to rob him, according to WXYZ. He was then fatally shot.

Family members told the news outlet that Gartley was an entrepreneur and had worked at the center for about a year.

The Detroit Police Department told McClatchy News that it has a suspect in custody and it is continuing to investigate the incident.
