40,000 Ford Bronco Sport, Escape SUVs Recalled for Fire Risk

• Ford has issued a recall for 2022 Ford Escape and 2022–2023 Bronco Sport SUVs that are equipped with the base 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine.

• The recall covers 42,652 vehicles and stems from an issue with fuel injectors potentially cracking, which could potentially lead to a fire in the engine bay.

• As a remedy, Ford will install a drain tube and update the appropriate software to include a leak detection.

Ford has recalled 42,652 Escape and Bronco Sport models that are equipped with the base 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine, as detailed by documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The recall covers the 2022 Escape and 2022–2023 Bronco Sport. There is a potential that a fuel injector could crack. If that were to happen, fuel and/or fuel vapor may ignite, potentially causing a fire in the engine bay.
