5 Fast Facts: 2016 Land Rover Range Rover Sport
The Land Rover Range Rover Sport midsize premium SUV is built on a new lightweight aluminum platform that combines classic Range Rover and contemporary Evoque styling elements. Reports suggest that the 5-seat luxury sporty SUV will get a facelift for 2017.
Here are five fast facts about the 2016 Land Rover Range Rover Sport:
1) Trim levels available with corresponding powertrains are: Supercharged SE (V-6); Turbocharged Diesel SE (Td6); Supercharged HSE (V-6); Turbocharged Diesel HSE (Td6); Supercharged (V-8); Supercharged Dynamic (V-8); Supercharged Autobiography (V-8); and Supercharged SVR (V-8).
2) Since it’s a Land Rover, the Range Rover Sport includes available all-terrain performance features, including an off-road crawl-control feature and an automatic adjustable lowering air suspension. Full-time 4-wheel drive (4WD) is standard and can be switched into high/low range for optimal on- or off-road performance.
3) The Range Rover Sport is available with a new turbodiesel V-6 motor that produces 254 horsepower and 443 lb.-ft. of torque. The EPA estimates that the Range Rover Sport with the turbodiesel engine averages 22 mpg in city driving and 28 mpg on the highway. Other engine choices include a supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 that makes 340 horsepower and supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 engines that can produce 550 horsepower and 502 lb.-ft. of torque. All engines are matched with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
4) The interior of the Range Rover Sport is sophisticated simplicity with elegant front seats and less roomy rear seating. An optional third row is large enough for children. Standard features on the base SE include mood lighting; rearview camera; rear park-assist sensors; leather seating and steering wheel with brushed aluminum trim; and an 8-speaker audio system.
5) The rearview camera for parking has been upgraded and a hands-free liftgate is standard. Available features include a choice of three contrast roof colors, panoramic tinted glass roof, and privacy glass. Luxury Climate Comfort and Visibility packages are available for the Supercharged, HSE, and other trims and include features such as adaptive headlights, blind-spot monitoring, reverse traffic detection, plus heated and cooled seats.
