The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter has added several convenience and safety features to its 2016 incarnation. It’s available in a Cab Chassis/Cutaway model, or in 2500 and 3500 models, both of which add standard window air bags and thorax air bags.

Here are more facts about the 2016 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter:

1) Three body lengths, three body heights, four gross vehicle weights (up to 11,030 lbs.), three cargo door choices, and four seating configurations are available. Body styles include Cargo Van with two or three seats; Crew Van with seating for five; and Passenger Van with seating for up to 12. Cutaways are available with the roof structure missing for easy body integration.
2)Mercedes’ upfitting program has been revamped, and includes MasterUpfitters covering many segments in the industry, such as shelving, people moving, emergency vehicle manufacturing, RV manufacturing, refrigeration, and more. Upfitters with MasterUpfitter status have access to a dedicated MasterUpfitter Dashboard and VIP technical support, plus exclusive marketing materials.
3) A locking glovebox is now standard on all Sprinter models, and all-wheel drive (AWD) is available, this year with the option of Downhill Speed Regulation. Seats include enhanced lateral support and comprehensive adjustability.
4) All Sprinters sold in the United States are powered by BlueTec clean-diesel engines. The standard engine is a turbocharged 4-cylinder diesel with a 7-speed automatic transmission. Also available is the 4-cylinder diesel SULEV engine: the world's first diesel engine certified to SULEV emission standards. A turbocharged V-6 diesel is available, and required with the AWD powertrain.
5) Standard safety features include anti-lock brakes, load-adaptive stability control, acceleration slip regulation, electronic brake-force distribution, hydraulic brake assist, rollover mitigation, rollover protection, Roll Movement Intervention, enhanced understeering control, automatic brake-disc drying system (brake disc wiping) when driving in the rain, electronic brake prefill, and trailer stability assist (if a trailer hitch is included). Many other safety options are available, with Crosswind Assist standard on 2500 models.
