This 600-Horsepower C3 Corvette Is an Absolute Autocross Monster

From Road & Track

For more than 60 years, the Corvette has been America's sports car. And from the beginning, people have been modifying them to make big power. If, however, you want to make a classic Corvette drive better than new, it takes a lot more than adding a big engine.

The folks at Detroit Speed have done just that with a gorgeous C3, and they recently let Matt Farah drive their creation. Yes, it has a 600-horsepower LS3 and 355 rear tires, but its suspension and steering have been completely redone, as well. The result is a car that looks and feels like a classic but drives like it's brand new. Oh, and it's an absolute monster at autocross.

The only downside is that all the parts and labor that went into creating this beautiful America-themed C3 add up to a small fortune. Recreating it would cost at least $200,000, and for that, you could have a brand new McLaren 570S.

But when you hear that incredible sound of that LS3, you won't care one bit. This Corvette is worth every bit of that $200,000.
