A 9.0-Liter Viper ACR Is Predictably Amazing on the Nürburgring

Many Nürburgring records have fallen over the last five years, yet with its 7:01.3 lap, the Dodge Viper ACR remains the fastest American and the fastest manual-transmission road car at the German circuit. So we know the ACR is a beast around the Nordschleife, and predictably, when you show up in one that's been stroked to 9.0 liters and wearing Kuhmo semi-slick tires, you'll have a good time.

Nürburgring YouTuber Misha Charoudin rode right seat in the car during a Touristenfaharten session, and while the driver doesn't push super hard, the video is still worth your time. The owner of the car hadn't been around the Ring in a few years, and it was fairly busy at the track, yet the ACR still flies. It's a good thing the car is fit with five-point harnesses.

This owner fit the 9.0-Liter X-Treme stroker kit offered by Viper tuning legends Prefix, which brings output up to 825 hp and 750 lb-ft of torque. It costs $28,000 and essentially replaces all the rotating assembly with custom forged pieces. That's a lot of money, but as you can see here, the results are deeply impressive.

It's easy to imagine a car with this much power and grip, both mechanical and aerodynamic, going way below 7:00 minutes around the Nordschleife. Of course, we'll likely never find that out for certain given the difficult and expensive nature of Nürburgring lap-record attempts. We're just happy to see this car showing Europe what America can do.
