We’re tired of hearing Boomers claim all the younger generations don’t like cars and don’t want to learn how to drive. There might be some kids who refuse to take on the responsibility, but there are plenty more like this 9-year-old in Oroville, California who want to start driving while they’re still in grade school.

A California Highway Patrol officer got the shock of his life after he found what he thought was a reckless and possibly intoxicated driver was in fact a young child. We guess stuff like this helps keep the job interesting.
According to a ABC7, the 9-year-old boy was stopped in the middle of an intersection and that’s what caught the CHP officer’s attention. Turning on his PA system he ordered the driver to clear the intersection, which he did.
That’s when the officer followed the Volkswagen Jetta through another intersection and into a gas station parking lot. After the officer pulled up behind the sedan, the kid accidentally backed into the patrol car.
Then a little head poked out and the little tyke of a driver apologized. At least the kid was polite.
The little fender bender happened right next to the kid’s school. He was trying to drive himself there and almost made it.
One thing many of the older people these days don’t understand is parents not only have to contend with cars being much more expensive these days but also insurance charging absolutely ridiculous rates if you have a driver under the age of 25.
Sometimes this leads to parents pumping the brakes on letting their kids drive because it’s just too expensive. Perhaps Boomers could offer to pay for their grandkids’ insurance instead of just sitting back and armchair quarterbacking their kids’ parenting.
In the meantime, some kids like this 9-year-old will just take matters into their own hands.
