Adrian Center for the Arts juried gallery exhibit 'Risk' concludes Saturday
ADRIAN — A public reception Saturday will mark the closing of the Adrian Center for the Arts' “Risk” regional juried show, which features artwork from several artists living in Lenawee County and the surrounding areas.
The reception will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 25. The exhibit is in the ACA Gallery, Building No. 46. The ACA is at 1375 N. Main St. in Adrian on the PlaneWave Instruments campus. There will also be gallery hours today from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. or by appointment by calling 517-759-3005
Artists from the Lenawee County region were invited to submit original work that explored the concept of risk, a news release from the ACA said. The exploration of risk needed to be conveyed in a creative and unique fashion that explored the idea in art making, culture, myth, literature or life experience.
The juror for the show was Travis Erxleben, chair of Adrian College’s Department of Art and Design and director of the Adrian College Institute for Creativity.
Thirty-five artists submitted 71 pieces for the exhibit, the release said.
"A juried show, such as 'Risk,’ gives the community the chance to see a variety of art and technique," Adrian Center for the Arts Executive Director Lisa Neuman said in an email. "It further exposes the ACA Gallery to people from a wider geography, and hopefully our Gallery will remain on their list to visit again."
Artists from Lenawee County accepted to the show were:
• Patricia Baier-Hay, Adrian, acrylic on canvas.
• Steve Chesher, Adrian, terracotta clay vase.
• Annie Howard, Adrian, glass and paper.
• Taina Mantey, Adrian, mixed media on canvas, encaustic and acrylic on hardboard.
• Jeanne O’Leary, Adrian, watercolor.
• Amy Philp, Adrian, clay and oil paint.
