The Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifolgio Sounds Extremely Promising

From Road & Track

I don't think it'd be too much of an exaggeration to say that the Alfa Romeo Giulia is one of the most highly anticipated cars of the year. It's the car that's supposed to restore Alfa to its former glory and turn the company into a sales success in one fell swoop. Enthusiasts have been disappointed many times by Alfa Romeo before, so our optimism is cautious, to say the least.

That's why this video from Evo's Henry Catchpole is such a relief. We'll reserve final judgement for when we drive the Giulia in this fall, but based on Catchpole's quick spin in a Quadrifoglio model at Alfa's Balocco test track, we have a lot to look forward to.

Catchpole notes that the Giulia Quadrifoglio has a lot of Ferrari DNA in a good way. The 2.9-liter V6 was designed by the same person who developed the 3.9-liter V8 in the California T, and the chassis was tuned by the man who set up the 458 Speciale.

Unfortunately, he says the car's six-speed manual is a weak link, but the eight-speed automatic is almost dual clutch good. We're not going to get our hopes up too much (this is Alfa, after all), but we're definitely that much more excited to have a go in the Giluia ourselves.
