The Alfa Romeo Milano Is Back as a Crossover EVAlfa Romeo
  • Alfa Romeo reveals the Milano subcompact electric crossover, its first EV model that shares a platform with the Jeep Avenger available in Europe.

  • The Milano is powered by a 54-kWh battery driving the front wheels, giving the base model a range of 250 miles in the more forgiving WLTP cycle.

  • A sportier Veloce version will serve up 237 hp while retaining a single-motor FWD layout.

We still remember the Alfa Romeo Milano as a boxy, compact sedan that briefly bridged the GTV6 and the 164 era for the brand stateside, though Alfa enthusiasts in Europe will of course remember that model as the 75.

But now the Italian brand has dusted off the nameplate for a small and electric subcompact crossover that will actually share Jeep underpinnings.

Live long enough, and eventually every car will become an electric crossover, as the old saying goes.

But for a small crossover, there is a lot going on in the front fascia, even though the traditional shield is still recognizable. There are a few nods to Alfa designs of the past, with Centro Stile incorporating the "kamm back" tail as a callback to the Giulia TZ, for instance.

The two-tiered headlight profile extending from the shield is a less familiar shape perhaps, and might take some time to get used to.

The pocket-sized EV will be powered by a 54-kWh battery, with the base Milano Elettrica producing just 154 hp. A single motor drives the front wheels, and it will offer 250 miles of range, at least in the European testing cycle.

A sportier Milano Veloce flavor will dial up the output to 240 hp, though the WLTP range of this version remains unannounced for now.
