A lot of the alleged police impersonators we’ve seen drive some pretty weird cars, but we guess some people still fall for the ruse. However, this guy in Westerville, Ohio who’s accused of impersonating a police officer has a pretty convincing setup with his Ford Explorer.

Police impersonator allegedly tried pulling over a cop.

The guy dropped some serious cash on this ride, going with a modern spotlight, roof lights, push bar with embedded lights, even black steel wheels with chrome hubcaps. He paid attention to small details, adding a 039 fleet number decal. The only thing missing was any markings indicating it was a cop car.

He even outfitted the interior with a police radio, dashcam, mounted shotgun, and partition for the backseat. With that kind of setup, there’s no telling what this guy could’ve done.

He had other lights active on the car in bodycam footage shared by WSYX. The guy tried to tell police he was off duty but they weren’t buying it. Even though the guy paid attention to some details, he missed others the real police noted right away.

This guy is facing a whole list of charges. Police really don’t like anyone who impersonates them since it creates problems with the community and enables suspects to abuse their perceived authority to hurt innocent citizens. This guy reportedly went so far as to register his Ford Explorer as a police vehicle, so he might get hit with a felony charge for falsifying his identity with the DMV.

Police are building a case against the suspect, 42-year-old Brendon Conklin. They think he’s been doing this for a while without their knowledge. In other words, if you think you or someone else you know was pulled over by this guy, contact police because they’d love to hear your story.

Again, this is one of the most convincing police impersonator vehicles we’ve seen in a long time. It would be impressive if we didn’t know what can happen in these cases, because that’s actually quite scary.
