We've heard rumors for a while that Renault planned to revive the Alpine brand. In February, it took the first step towards that goal when it showed off the Alpine Vision Concept. The production version, potentially called the A120, is set to be revealed later this year. But despite the fact that the final car hasn't been revealed yet, Alpine is already taking pre-orders.

The newly revived automaker announced today that it will build a limited run of 1955 "Premiere Editions" that can be reserved for the low price of $2133 (€2000). It also released the video below as a teaser. Considering the cars are covered in camouflage, it doesn't exactly count as an official reveal, but it's clearly stayed faithful to the concept.

Details, including the official name, are still scarce, but this mid-engine sports car is expected to weigh somewhere around 2300 lbs. and make about 300 horsepower from a four-cylinder engine. Alpine says it will hit 62 mph in 4.5 seconds and will cost about $60,000 (between €55,000 and €60,000). That should put it pretty much in line with the Alfa Romeo 4C.

When it first goes on sale next year, Alpine's first road car since 1995 will be exclusive to Europe. If it sells well, though, it may eventually come Stateside. And we definitely want it to come to the U.S.
