Diesel Fix

Remember VW's Diesel Scandal? Dieselgate? The thing that kind of ruined diesels for everyone? Well, another fix to one of the cheating diesel engines has been approved. The fix to bring VW's 3.0 liter diesel SUVs into compliance has been approved by the US and California.

This engine came to our shores in the 2013-2016 Porsche Cayenne and VW Touareg and the 2013-2015 Audi Q7. This fix will cover 38,000 cars.

Tesla in China

When automakers want to build cars in China, the usual way to do it is to partner with a Chinese company on a factory and create a joint venture. Tesla, which seems to do every aspect of the car business differently, wants to go a different way.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Tesla will open its own plant in China without a partner, which means that it won't have to share profits or tech. Tesla has reportedly reached a deal with Shanghai to build a huge plant, though the Shanghai government is yet to comment and Tesla said that they'll announce their plans by the end of the year.

No Halo for Indycar

Next year, Formula One will implement the Halo, a head protection device that sits over the driver. There has been criticism and praise for the decision amongst drivers and fans. Indycar, which lost Justin Wilson due to a head injury, is going for a different solution than the halo.

Speaking at the USGP, IndyCar CEO Mark Miles said that the series is actively working on head protection, and that the series's solution will be a windscreen. While there is no definitive timeframe for the screen, it could be during the 2018 season.

Raikkonen Knows Track Limits

Kimi Raikkonen was running third in Sunday's USGP when, on the last lap, Max Verstappen made an epic pass. Of course, he also jumped all four wheels off the track on the inside curb. The stewards declared that he exceeded the track limits and gave the spot back to Raikkonen.

There are a lot of opinions on both sides as to the penalty being deserved.

Raikkonen, in his normally verbose manner, said "we all know where the track limits are." But the driver didn't say whether or not Verstappen should have been penalized, instead leaving that decision to the stewards and the stewards alone.
