In Mario Kart games, driving over a banana peel leads instantly to a quick spin. But what happens in real life with, say, a few hundred banana peels? The dudes at Hoonigan answer this extremely important question, using an Audi RS5 and World RallyCross racer Andreas Bakkerud.

Unsurprisingly, the result isn't much like the game, but that's not to say nothing happens. On the small circuit Hoonigan put together for Bakkeurd, running over banana peels leads to lots of understeer, forcing the car wide and increasing his lap times.

Bakkeurd said the sensation felt like aquaplaning, which makes sense. The bananas might not be as slippery as video games and cartoons may lead you to believe, but they're a lot slicker than dry pavement. Really, running over this many banana peels is akin to driving through a deep puddle-the tires will lose grip.

This is just one scenario involving hard cornering, though. Run over banana peels while traveling straight and nothing might happen other than a momentary loss of grip; get just the rear tires on the peels, and oversteer could be induced.
