Yahoo Autos Here's the Coolest Race Car You've Never Heard Of
If you've never heard of the Inter Proto Race Series, you're not alone. It's an obscure spec series that started in 2013 meant for professional and gentleman drivers to battle it out on some of Japan's greatest tracks. But instead of using something like a Miata or a BMW as the series' standardized car, it decided to build its own. And it looks seriously awesome.
The Inter Proto Kuruama was built as the race car to represent the one-make Inter Proto series founded four years ago. The Kuruama isn't based off of any road-going model, but rather a purpose-built track machine complete with a carbon-fiber monocoque, a sequential transmission, and a 335-horsepower naturally aspirated V6 engine.
And unlike most purpose-built race cars, this one looks a lot like it could double as a street car, mainly thanks to its lack of aerodynamic appointments. It's too bad the Inter Proto Series doesn't make a street version, because it would probably be really fun.
Best Motoring, our favorite Japanese-language automotive show, got a chance to drive the Kuruama when it debuted back in 2012. The video below gives a full walkthrough of the car, and plenty of sweet onboard action. Watch for yourself.
