Despite being killed far too soon at 32, Jim Clark is one of the most important racing drivers of all time. His unbelievable natural talent earned him two World Championships, 25 Grand Prix victories, and an Indy 500 championship. Currently, there's a small Jim Clark Room in his native Scotland that houses some of his old trophies and other memorabilia, but the Jim Clark Trust wants more.

There's an effort to crowdfund a proper museum to feature Clark's most famous Team Lotus race cars in addition to the memorabilia housed at the existing Jim Clark Room. Currently, the Jim Clark Trust has raised £85,000 (around $106,000 USD), but it's looking to get £300,000 to open the museum next year.

Major patrons for the Museum include legendary Scottish racing drivers Jackie Stewart, Allan McNish, Dario Franchitti, and David Coulthard, plus Goodwood's Lord March, and Lotus founder Colin Chapman's son, Clive Chapman. If you talk to any of these drivers, it's clear that Clark is an incredibly important influence.

The Jim Clark Trust hopes to open the museum some time next year, which seems like a long-shot, but is certainly a worthy cause. A lot of great racing drivers come from Scottland, and surely, this museum could help inspire the next generation of champions.
