Last Sunday during a Formula 4 race at Donington Park, British driver Billy Monger was involved in a horrific crash between himself and Finnish driver Patrik Pasma. Pasma's car was stuck stationary on track, and Monger had no time to react before rear-ending him at full speed.

The crash destroyed both cars, and while Pasma escaped virtually unharmed, it took nearly two hours to extract Monger from his car.

Today the full extent of Monger's injuries have been revealed: the 17-year-old driver had to have both lower legs amputated as a result of the collision, and has been placed in an induced coma during recovery, per Motorsport.

It's clear Monger's life-and motorsport career-will never be the same, so his team, JHR Developments, has set up a crowdfunding page to help him through the incident. According to the page, the donations will be used to "fund the care, treatments and therapies required by Billy in the immediate future and going forward, helping him to return to a full and active life."

As of this writing, the page has already raised £154,953, more than halfway to the £260,000 goal.

If you want to help a young aspiring race car driver get through this unfortunate incident, you can visit the site here and make a donation.
