What It's Like to Be a Helpless Alfa Romeo Collector

Maintaining a fleet of classic (and more modern) Alfa Romeos is hard enough as it is in Europe, let alone in America, the continent the company abandoned not long after twin-turbocharging the GTV/6 in 1985. Yet once you get the Alfa fever, it becomes a problem that will put a smile on your face almost every time.

Petrolicious founder and CEO Afshin Behnia's first Alfa was an '86 Spider, after which he moved on to leasing a wide variety of modern vehicles. But then, he suddenly wanted an 8C, which is only reasonable. His first ride back into the vintage Alfa scene was Bertone's classic, the Sprint Speciale, in white with a red interior-the perfect tool to lure somebody into the cloud that is Alfa amore. The SS represents everything that makes Alfas so special: Their racing pedigree, engineering excellence and brilliant design, always penned by the best design houses in the world.

Since then, his place in Los Angeles has become home to a Giulietta Spider bought from Florida sight-unseen (and with a list of undisclosed mechanical issues), as well as a GTV in Giallo Ocra. You know, that great yellow the Italians do so well. These are good problems to have.
