Yahoo Autos Here's How to Polish a Clear Bra
Clear bras are great for protecting your car against rock chips, but their tendency to fade makes your paint looks dull and discolored. The best solution is to replace your paint protectant film entirely, but if you want to save yourself some money, you can break out the polish - as long as you know the right technique.
For the best way to polish up protectant film, we turn to detailer extraordinaire Larry Kosilla, who just posted this video showing how it's done. Here, he polishes the protectant film on the rear fender of a mid-1990s Porsche 911 Turbo, but his method can be used on just about any piece of clear paint protecting film that's installed on a car.
Kosilla uses a six-inch Meguiar's foam cutting disc and M100 compound on his polishing tool for this job. He puts a lot of the compound on the disc, then spends just around 20 seconds polishing the protectant film itself.
After wiping off the residue with a towel, Kosilla busts out a three-inch polisher fit with a yellow Rupes pad that has Meguiar's M205 compound applied. With this setup, he does more polishing to finish the job around the edges.
On the 911 Turbo, the clear film is still visible, but it's much less discolored than it was at the start. Again, this isn't a substitute for a full film replacement, but it's a great stopgap.
