The AM6-generation Aston Martin Vantage that debuted in 2017 has never managed to capture the public in the same way as its timeless predecessor. The Gaydon-based automaker has decided to go back to the drawing board for 2025, rolling out a heavily revised variant of the two-seat sports car. This is the all-new 2025 Aston Martin Vantage, complete with a new face and a much more potent V-8 engine.

The Vantage nameplate has been a mainstay at Aston Martin since the DB2, but didn’t come to represent its own model until 1972. The recipe for a Vantage has remained fairly consistent in the years since, combining elegant looks with a potent powertrain and chassis. The outgoing model certainly bestowed customers with plenty of power to work with, but it lacked some of the grace of the former cars. This mid-cycle refresh aims to rectify that, bringing the Vantage in line with the recently unveiled DB12 with which it shares a platform.

The whole body of the car is about an inch wider than before, pushing that sporting intention forward from first glance. The front fascia is new, with a 38 percent larger grille that was clearly inspired by the ultra-rare One-77. The nose is also dominated by the brand’s new lighting signature, consisting of Matrix LED headlamps with integrated running lights. A side strake sits on either flank as a nod to the previous model, whereas the doors are decorated with frameless mirrors and pop-out handles for the first time.

Under the long hood sits a revised version of the familiar twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 engine sourced from AMG. Aston Martin engineers have reworked their tuning setup on the motor for 2025, including tweaked camshaft profiles, optimized compression ratios, and the installation of larger turbos among others. The results are hard to argue against, as the V-8 now provides 656 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. Those figures represent gains of 153 hp and 85 lb-ft over last year’s model. The ZF 8-speed automatic transmission has been given a shorter final drive ratio (3.083:1) for 2025, while the engineers went to work revising the calibration. Thanks to the power bump and the new launch control system, Aston says this Vantage will do 0-60 mph in just 3.4 seconds. The top speed is rated at 202 mph.

To make use of the straight-line speed, the Vantage’s bonded aluminum chassis has also been revised in some key areas. The front cross member has been pushed back and re-engineered to allow for a more stiff mounting point for the double-wishbone front suspension. The front suspension towers are now tied together with a stiffer engine cross brace. Increased lateral stiffness between rear suspension towers will help keep thighs tighter in the bends. All four corners receive the brand's new intelligent adaptive dampers, which Aston says bring a 500 percent increase in bandwidth of force distribution.

The Vantage comes equipped with a set of forged 21-inch alloy wheels wrapped in bespoke compound Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 tires. Customers will have a number of different color options for the wheels, including the sweet bronze setup found on DB12. Behind those rollers sits a set of cast iron brakes, but carbon ceramic brakes are optional. You might want to spec the latter for track use, as they shave 60 pounds of unsprung weight. Those brakes are also used as part of the integrated Brake Slip Control, which is Aston’s brake-based torque vectoring system.

Also new for 2025 is the Launch Control system, which utilizes data provided by the e-differential, stability control, and adjustable traction control system. A ton of attention was placed on reworking the sports car’s electric power steering system, which takes just 2.27 turns lock-to-lock. From behind that wheel you’ll also notice that the Mercedes-based infotainment setup is gone, replaced by the new system found in the DB12. That system runs through a 10.25-inch central touch screen, which also supports wireless Apple CarPlay. An 11-speaker audio system comes as standard, but customers can spec a 15-speaker, double amplified Bowers & Wilkins system for some additional coin.
