Audi's Next RS5 Sure Doesn't Sound Like it Has a V8

From Road & Track

When the Audi RS5 finally made it to the States, we were excited. The A5 always looked outstanding, but even in sportier S5 form, it never quite had the performance to take on the BMW M3 Coupe. But with a 450-horsepower naturally aspirated V8 under the hood, there was no questioning the RS5's performance.

Now that the A5 and S5 have been redesigned, it was only a matter of time before Audi unleashed a new generation of RS5. And judging by what we can see in the video below, it's going to be a doozy.

The new RS5 is expected to borrow the 2.9-liter turbocharged V6 from the Porsche Panamera 4S, but based on how this test car sounds, we won't miss the first generation's naturally aspirated V8. In the Panamera, it makes 440 horsepower, which would line up nicely with the BMW M4's 444 horsepower (if you spring for the optional Competition Package).

Sadly, we don't know how long it'll be until Audi officially reveals the RS5. Hopefully it's sooner rather than later.
