The Autozam AZ-1 is a mid-engine Japanese-market Kei car with a turbocharged three-cylinder engine and gullwing doors. That automatically makes it cool, even if it was never officially imported into the US. But now that it's 25 years old, you can bring your very own Autozam into the states. It might be the coolest car in America right now.
Show up to any sort of car show, and you'll be the center of attention. There's absolutely nothing as unique as the AZ-1 on the road. It's dwarfed by even the smallest Miatas, and barely measures up to half the size of decade-old crossovers. All while looking like a supercar.
Mr. Regular from Regular Car Reviews got the chance to drive the AZ-1 featured on Bring a Trailer a few weeks back. At 5' 10," he's physically too tall to enjoy the car to the fullest.
