From Road & Track

Aston Martin and Red Bull F1's hypercar collaboration, the AM-RB 001, promises to redefine what's considered possible in a performance car. It's no surprise then that demand is high for the 175 Aston plans on building. Rather, demand was high, since all the road cars are sold out years before customer deliveries are expected to begin.

Aston and Red Bull announced Tuesday that it had pre-sold all 150 roadgoing AM-RB 001s–which doesn't include the 25 track-only versions–and will begin customer deliveries in early 2019. That delivery date contrasts slightly with Aston Martin design chief Marek Reichman's late 2018 forecast, which he made in a recent interview.

We've covered the AM-RB 001's impressive performance numbers here before, but they're worth reiterating, if only for their absurdity. The engineers are targeting a 0-200 mph run of 10 seconds, a 250-mph top speed, 4000 lbs of downforce, 4.5G of cornering force, and a weight of just 2200 lbs. Oh, and it'll get a bespoke, naturally aspirated V12 that revs to 9500 rpm.

That's LMP1-levels of performance . . . in a street car.

Price is rumored to be around $3 million, but with performance capabilities like those claimed, it's no surprise the car sold out so quickly after its July debut.

Aston and Red Bull also announced that they will continue their partnership into 2017, but it's unclear what exactly that entails. Given the promises made by the AM-RB 001, we sincerely hope it means more hypercars.
