This band has more top 10 rock songs than Foo Fighters or Aerosmith. It’s coming, Boise

If your idea of exercise is holding a beer while headbanging, prepare to sweat this summer.

Godsmack and Staind will co-headline an outdoor concert Friday, Aug. 18, at the Ford Idaho Center Amphitheater — and it’s sure to be packed with familiar favorites. “Godsmack has more Top 10 rock songs than Foo Fighters or their hometown heroes, Aerosmith,” the band’s official bio brags. “Stretching back to their four-times platinum self-titled debut, initially recorded in 1996 for $2,500, the veteran band’s catalog of hits is enough to fill a marathon set without running out. Songs like ‘I Stand Alone,’ ‘Awake’ and ‘Voodoo’ are certified anthems deeply encoded into hard rock’s DNA.”

Like Godsmack, Staind is a force of melodic, mainstream heavy rock — but with extra mopiness in its nu-metal delivery, thanks to frontman Aaron Lewis. The group, formed in 1995, has enjoyed hits such as “It’s Been Awhile,” “Outside” and “So Far Away.” For the past decade-plus, Lewis also has pursued a career as a country singer (and onstage conspiracy theorist).

Tickets to the 7 p.m. concert become available to the general public starting at 10 a.m. Friday for $39.50 to $125 plus fees through fordidahocenter.com.
