Historic event sets new high for collector car auctions.

Barrett-Jackson, the acclaimed auction house known for its prestigious collector car events, kicked off its 2024 auction season with a historic Scottsdale Auction, held January 20-28 at WestWorld of Scottsdale, Arizona. This year's event not only featured the largest number of collectible vehicles in Barrett-Jackson's history but also achieved a record-breaking $207.6 million in total sales, the highest for any single auction in the company's esteemed history.

The auction presented an unparalleled docket of 2,016 vehicles, all offered with No Reserve, culminating in a staggering $200.9 million in sales. Additionally, the event saw 1,180 pieces of authentic automobilia go under the hammer, contributing another $6.7 million to the grand total. Achieving a 100 percent sell-through rate and setting over 190 world auction records, the Scottsdale Auction was a testament to Barrett-Jackson's unmatched influence in the collector car market.

Craig Jackson, the chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson, expressed his excitement over the event's success, stating, "It was a tremendous event this week in Scottsdale with our largest docket in history, a record number of bidders, and an impromptu live performance by Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Sammy Hagar." He also highlighted the auction's record-breaking sales, such as the $3.41 million 1956 300SL Gullwing, showcasing the auction's diverse and high-quality offerings.

Among the top sales were notable vehicles like the 1956 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing Coupe and a 2018 Bugatti Chiron, which fetched $2.97 million, exemplifying the event's appeal to enthusiasts of classic sports cars, supercars, and more.

The auction also had a significant philanthropic impact, with four charity vehicles raising a total of $1 million for various causes. Notable among these was the sale of a 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 3LZ for $270,000, benefiting the Chip Miller Amyloidosis Foundation, and a 2024 Ford Mustang Darkhorse VIN 001, which garnered $375,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Looking ahead, Barrett-Jackson is preparing for its next collector car auction in Palm Beach in April 2024, followed by a return to Scottsdale in October for the Fall Auction. "You won’t find an equal celebration of passion for the automotive culture, which is why we’re also hosting the Scottsdale Fall Auction this October," Jackson added, underscoring the company's commitment to hosting premier automotive events.
