Behold the 2017 BMW HP4 Race

So, perhaps you thought the KTM 790 R was a bit tittilating. And the Ducati 1299 Superleggera was a rather astonishing as well. So did we. Now we must consider the BMW HP4 Race, “the most exclusive BMW motorcycle of all time.”

Exclusive is the key word here. Like the Superleggera, the HP4 R has a carbon fiber frame and wheels. And a very powerful engine, and a notable absence of any excess weight. And likewise, you quite probably can’t afford one. Nonetheless, ain’t it fun to dream?

BMW displayed the HP4 R at the Milan show, to an accompanying round of oohs and ahhs and a few “are you freakin-kidding-me’s.” But there it was, in lustrous and fibrous beauty, looking for all the world like a real motorcycle. Which BMW says it is, or at least will be.

BMW President Stephan Schiller said only, “The HP4 RACE will feature the full carbon fiber main frame and carbon fiber rims as shown here. We will reveal more about this model next spring.”

It is also certain that the BMW HP4 RACE will be manufactured by hand in an exclusive limited series and supplied in the second half of 2017. Supplied to whom? For how much? And how many? Nobody knows. But we promise to let you know when we find out.
