2014 Cadillac CTS balloons its sticker to $46,025

After its unveiling at the 2013 New York Auto Show, the 2014 Cadillac CTS received an abundance of praise for its reworked appearance. Today, we've found it its price has been reworked too, rising to $46,025 -- a $6,000 hike.

The $46,025 marks Cadillac's suggested sticker-price for the base CTS; the stickers for Luxury, Performance, and Premium Collection models have yet to be revealed. Cadillac's twin-turbo CTS Vsport, however, has, seeking $59,995 for its 420-hp V-6. The base engine on the CTS will be a 2.0-liter turbo four, sending 272 hp to the rear wheels by way of its six-speed automatic gearbox. A 321-hp 3.6-liter V-6 is optional, but no word on how much additional cash that will cost.

The big question remains what you get for the extra $6,000 when comparing to the 2013 CTS. Surely it's more than just a pretty smile? Well, the 2014 model takes cues from The Biggest Loser, dropping a hefty 244 lbs. This helps the base CTS sprint to 60 mph in 6.1 seconds -- 1.5 seconds faster than the outgoing CTS. That's got to be worth something, right? The weight loss, too, promises nimbler handling, and an increase in vehicle length offers more interior space.

Whether the 2014 CTS proves worthy of its price remains a question only answerable once we get behind the wheel. Until then, we'll just admire its pretty face.
