Jeep forum auctions tricked-out Wrangler to benefit cancer victim’s family

Car forums can be angry places, or so devoted to their chosen topic that there's no daylight for much else. Which is why it's noteworthy that after one Jeep forum lost a key leader to cancer, the board banded together to trick out his Jeep Wrangler into a show truck and sell it for his children's college fund. Jeep owners do know about putting things right side up.

Project-JK.com and its forum Wayalife ranks among the largest Jeep forums on the Internet, and no one posted more over the past several years than Ken Offerbeck, known as HappyCurmudgeon. In the final stages of cancer a year ago, forum editors Edwin and Cindy Oh agreed to buy Ken's own 2007 Wranger Sahara, customize it and then sell the truck online with the proceeds going to Offerbeck's daughter.

A year later, the white Wrangler, nicknamed Vengeance, has been transformed into a rock-grinding off-roader, with every piece of upgraded kit a Jeep enthusiast could dream of. As of today, bidding on Vengeance has hit $39,000 on eBay, with five days left, helping at least one family climb out of a tough spot.
