McLaren unveils the 986-hp P1 GTR, a hybrid monster born for the track

Almost two decades ago, the McLaren F1 GTR race car debuted with great success. At a private event at this year's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, that car's successor was revealed: the totally insane 986-hp P1 GTR.

The car shown here is a design concept, with the machine entering its final stages of development. Production is set to begin in less than a year, where a rumored 30-50 GTRs will be built only for current P1 customers.
