Sixty-eight years ago today, some 160,000 Allied troops landed on the shores of France to begin the end of World War II. The U.S. Army keeps a set of snapshots from that day online; you can also read about some of the lesser-known stories of D-Day, such as how the Army managed to fuel the thousands of vehicles it sent ashore over a matter of days.
