See a Koenigsegg Agera R supposedly hit 249 mph on the Nürburgring

The $1.6 million Koenigsegg Agera R carries close to 1,200 hp in a body that weighs half what a Bugatti Veyron does, and already holds several world records for acceleration from a production vehicle. Powered by its twin-turbo V8, and driven by a part owner of the Swedish supercar firm, this Agera R hit 249 mph on the Nürburgring last week -- and here's the view from the chase car, a Pagani Zonda F.

Both cars were on the famed German track as part of the Gran Turismo trackday for supercar owners from Europe and elsewhere. For $4,300, owners get two days of running the Green Hell, and this year's event attracted some 120 drivers -- yet none managed the feat claimed by the Agera R, chased here by Bridge to Gantry's Dale Lomas in the Pagani, which topped out at a measly 174 mph. There are a few detractors online questioning whether the Agera actually could run so fast on just a few mile straight, but it's nothing a little in-car video would clear right up.
