Shelby tweaks the Ford Raptor into a 575-hp monster truck

When Shelby American announced the return of the Shelby Focus ST in Detroit, the lack of power upgrades over the stock Focus ST made people question whether the package made sense. There'll be no such debates over this, a Shelby-tuned Ford SVT Raptor with a senseless and yet sensible 575 hp.

Ford Raptors are known for being all-powerful and all-conquering. John Luft, president of Shelby American, clearly disagrees with the theory “less is more," and who are we to argue, as the Shelby Raptor looks totally insane.

The late Carroll Shelby adored powerful trucks and often engulfed himself in truck related projects; the first of which came 30 years ago. And with the addition of the Shelby Focus ST and today’s Shelby Raptor, returning to Carroll Shelby’s roots appears to be of top priority.

The preposterous surfeit of power derives from a 2.9 liter supercharger mounted to the 6.2 liter V-8 motor, and the adorned Shelby Borla exhaust system stands to create a wildly exceptional soundtrack. This monster truck has received a staggering 164 hp leap over the stock SVT Raptor. Cooling has been improved and 35-inch Goodrich All-Terrain rubber comes attached.

Graphics packages are available, ranging from mildly subtle, to face-shredding awesomeness not often seen other than on Black Sabbath T-shirts. Optional Shelby wheels, bumpers and roof mounts are also offered. All this madness comes with a price tag of $17,995 on top of the actual truck. That, of course, is a lot of money, but when you compare it to the Shelby Focus ST, you get a whole lot of extra oomph for your cash.
