BMW Honors First M3 with 2017 "30 Years" Limited Edition
Thirty years ago, BMW built its first M3 performance sports car that would compete in European and German Touring car racing series. To mark this 30-year anniversary, the German luxury sports car maker will produce just 500 “30 Jahre M3” Limited Edition copies for worldwide sales. Some 150 of those will be available in the United States. The limited-edition M3 will launch in the German market this summer.
The historically referenced M3 Limited Edition will be available with a manual transmission at a suggested price of $83,250 plus destination and handling, and for about $3,000 (minus destination and handling) more it will be offered with a 7-speed M double-clutch automatic transmission. The tribute car will be painted in Macao Blue Metallic, which was the color of the last, most powerful Sport Evo BMW M3.
The Limited Edition “30 Years M3” comes equipped with the Competition package that includes an adaptive M suspension, Active M differential, and performance tuning, which helps the engine to produce 444 horsepower. With the dual-clutch automatic, the M3 Limited Edition can dash from 0 to 60 mph in a claimed 3.8 seconds. The sprint time for the Limited Edition with the 6-speed manual shifter is also faster with the Competition package, BMW says. Forged 20-in. M alloy wheels also are part of the package.
Inside the “30 Years M3” cockpit, the tribute model will be upholstered in full Merino leather in combined Black and Fjord Blue colors with contrasting color seams. BMW’s high-gloss shadow lines will enhance features on the car including the kidney frame, rear M3 badge, and sports exhaust system that has black exhaust tailpipes. Commemorative logos are embroidered into the front headrests and embossed on door sills. Ausgezeichnet!
