Is BMW Testing an Even Hotter M2 at the Nurburgring?

From Road & Track

Earlier this summer, we heard the very enticing rumor that BMW is working on a lighter, faster version of its excellent M2. Now, it looks like we've caught our first glimpse of the car.

YouTuber Supercarsfromeu spotted a mildly camouflaged M2 testing on the Nürburgring, and while we can't see details, we have a hunch this is an even higher-performance version of the little coupe. It's definitely sitting on larger wheels–just like the M4 GTS–and it also looks like it has different bumpers.

Of course, BMW could be using an M2 to test components for a different future car, but that seems less likely.

The M2 GTS (or CSL, or whatever it might be called) will likely use carbon fiber body parts to reduce weight and we expect a moderate bump in horsepower, from 360 to 400 hp. Given how much we like the M2, we like the sound of a hotter version.
