How a Boy Found His Father's Ghost Waiting in a Vintage Video Game

From Road & Track

In 2014, we wrote about a son who found his father's ghost car in an Xbox racing game ten years after he passed away. The heartwarming gearhead story has just been turned into a short film called Player Two, and it'll raise the hair on the back of your neck.

The son and father played a game called RalliSport Challenge, but after the father passed away, the son couldn't bring himself to return to the game. When he finally pulled it out years later, though, he discovered something amazing: His father's ghost car, lapping the track, re-enacting the very last lap time his dad set in the game before his death.

This story originally popped up in the comments on a YouTube video asking whether video games could provide a spiritual experience. Commenter "00WARTHERAPY00" told the story so eloquently, filmmaker John Wikstrøm had to feature it.

It's a touching story, and this film captures it beautifully. This is more than just a video game. It's a tribute to a beloved man and the hobby he handed down to his son.
