Gill St. Bernard's 82, Saddle River Day 42: Mackenzie Mgbako recorded a double-double with 28 points, 13 rebounds, four blocks, two assists and two steals as third-seeded Gill St. Bernard's (20-6) defeated No. 2 Saddle River Day (20-7).

Geancarlo Pejuero totaled 17 points, nine rebounds, two assists and one steal. Naasir Cunningham finished with 13 points, seven rebounds, three assists, three steals and one block. Denver Anglin contributed nine points, four assists, two rebounds and two steals. Nick Losada added eight points, five rebounds, two steals and one assist.

Red Bank Catholic 70, St. Joseph (Met.) 58: Ethan Simmon posted 18 points as fourth-seeded St. Joseph (21-7) fell to top-seeded Red Bank Catholic (24-4). Anthony Williams recorded 16 points and Josh Ingram added 10 points. Amari Campbell contributed eight points. Kwame Herod and Jeremy DeCaro combined for six points.

Colonia 62, Mendham 46: Saivon Pressley posted 30 points, including 10 free throws, four steals, two rebounds and one assist as top-seeded Colonia (24-4) defeated fifth-seeded Mendham (17-9).

BOYS BASKETBALL: South Plainfield stymies West Morris in N2G3 semifinals

Justin Gordon recorded 13 points, three steals, two rebounds and one assist. Billy Anderson contributed 10 points, two rebounds and two assists. Noah Taylor chipped in six points, five rebounds, two steals and one assist. Jaeden Jones added 10 assists, three rebounds, two steals and one point.

Colonia will host second-seeded South Plainfield in the sectional final on Tuesday.

NJSIAA TOURNAMENT

Central Group 2

Bound Brook 50, Raritan 49: Quadir Harrell recorded 17 points, five assists, four rebounds and three steals as second-seeded Bound Brook (22-4) survived sixth-seeded Raritan (18-8).

Jordan Summers finished with 10 rebounds, eight points, two blocks, two steals and two assists. Donovan Newihany added six points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals. Bryce Cobb contributed 10 rebounds, four points and two steals. Jordan Robinson chipped in eight points, four rebounds, three assists and one steal.

Bound Brook will travel to top-seeded Rumson-Fair Haven in the final on Monday.

Central Group 4

Marlboro 55, South Brunswick 46: Damien Downes posted 15 points as fourth-seeded South Brunswick (19-9) fell to top-seeded Marlboro (26-2). Yathin Vemula added 11 points. Brian Rawls contributed eight points and Harmehar Chhabra chipped in five points. Bruce Muniz, Kalani Antoine and Shyhiem Davis combined for seven points.

Roselle Catholic 109, Wardlaw-Hartridge 56: Mehkai Huey led with 21 points, including five 3s, six rebounds, four assists and one steal as eighth-seeded Wardlaw-Hartridge (15-8) fell to top-seeded Roselle Catholic (24-2).

Evan Benson contributed 18 points, including four 3s, three assists, one rebound and one steal. Jordan Severino added seven points and three rebounds. Harrison Kilpatrick totaled seven points, two assists and one steal. Xavier Hinds chipped in six assists. three points and two rebounds.

Morris Catholic 79, Sinai Christian 60: Jasier Carter finished with 16 points as fifth-seeded Sinai Christian (13-11) fell to fourth-seeded Morris Catholic (21-5). Jordan Torres recorded 14 points and Cameron McRae added 13 points. Elijah Chance chipped in seven points. Racine Fowler, Quintrell Dixon and Christian Lewis combined for 10 points.

Gill St. Bernard's 80, Montclair Immaculate 59: Naasir Cunningham posted a double-double with 33 points, including 10 free throws, 10 rebounds, four assists, four steals and one block as third-seeded Gill St. Bernard's (19-6) defeated sixth-seeded Montclair Immaculate (13-11).

Mackenzie Mgbako also had a double-double with 12 rebounds, 10 points, three assists, three blocks and one steal. Denver Anglin contributed 17 points, seven assists, five rebounds and three steals. Geancarlo Pejuero added 16 points and nine rebounds.

Rutgers Prep 84, Immaculata 63: Ryan Pettit posted a triple-double with 16 points, 10 assists, 10 steals and four rebounds for third-seeded Rutgers Prep (24-3).

Jadin Collins recorded a double-double with 16 points, 11 rebounds, five assists, five steals and one block. Franklin Jones also had a double-double with 12 points, 10 rebounds, three steals and one assist. Cameron Piggee totaled 21 points, three rebounds, three steals and one assist.

For No. 11 Immaculata (13-15), Davis Adams finished with a double-double with 15 points, 10 rebounds, two assists and one block. Isaiah Honis contributed 17 points, five rebounds, five assists, two steals and one block. Sean Givens chipped in seven points and one rebound. Jayden Street tallied eight rebounds and five points.

Rutgers Prep will travel to second-seeded St. Thomas Aquinas in the semifinals on Monday.

St. Thomas Aquinas 76, St. John Vianney 51: Terrell Pitts recorded 14 points as second-seeded St. Thomas Aquinas (27-1) defeated seventh-seeded St. John Vianney (20-8).

Adam Silas contributed 12 points. Sherief Guinyard and Jaden Kelly each added 11 points. Samar Abdullah and Jalen Pichardo each totaled nine points. Kamal Lee and Chris Santner combined for 10 points.

Central Group 1

Florence 53, Perth Amboy Tech 42: Chanel Herrera finished with 14 points, three steals, two assists and one rebound as fourth-seeded Perth Amboy Tech (15-11) fell to fifth-seeded Florence (15-10).

Adrian Pena contirbuted 13 points, six rebounds, five steals and two assists. Jamir Brown totaled eight points, six rebounds, two steals and one assist. Julius Brown added six points, three rebounds, two assists and one block. Jonas Ramos chipped in six rebounds and two assists.

Keyport 82, Manville 53: Shawn Purcell posted 12 points as No. 10 Manville (12-13) fell to second-seeded Keyport (18-6). Tyler Kesolitz netted 11 points. Edyrn Morales finished with eight points and Stefhan Ross added seven points. Steve Purcell totaled six points. Juan Velasquez, Aidan Shimp and Elijah Capone combined for nine points.

North 2 Group 3

South Plainfield 73, Mount Olive 54: Brandon Dean poured in 28 points as second-seeded South Plainfield (22-6) defeated No. 10 Mount Olive (15-12). Anthony Nigro and Tareak Williams each recorded 13 points. Ikenna Ibeku netted six points and Joseph Oduro finished with five points. Steven Moench, Jack Massett and Michael Mendez combined for eight points.

South Plainfield will host third-seeded West Morris in the semifinals on Saturday.

Colonia 57, Cranford 44: Saivon Pressley finished with 16 points, three rebounds and two steals as top-seeded Colonia (23-4) advanced over ninth-seeded Cranford (14-13).

Billy Anderson recorded 13 points, five rebounds, one block and one steal. Noah Taylor totaled 10 points, six rebounds, one assist and one steal. Jaeden Jones added nine points, six assists, four rebounds, one block and one steal.

Colonia will host fifth-seeded Mendham in the semifinals on Saturday.

Mendham 41, Voorhees 34: Justin Vernieri led with 17 points, four rebounds, two blocks and one steal as fourth-seeded Voorhees (17-8) fell to fifth-seeded Mendham (17-8). Jake Knapp totaled five points and one steal. Justin Wistuba scored five points. Connor Duggan chipped in five rebounds, four points and one assist. Owen McComb contributed three points, three rebounds, two steals and one assist.

NJSIAA TOURNAMENT

Central Group 2

Bound Brook 66, Nottingham 61: Bound Brook is in territory it hasn’t visited since 1966.

The second-seeded Crusaders outlasted No. 7 Nottingham to earn their first Central Group 2 semifinal berth since 1966, when they won the sectional crown. Bound Brook is in its first year in Group 2 after years in Group 1.

Bound Brook (21-4) will play host to sixth-seeded Raritan (18-7) on Friday night at 7 p.m. Raritan beat third-seeded South River on Wednesday night to advance.

Bound Brook raced out to a 8-0 lead, led 33-23 at halftime and 52-35 after three quarters. But Nottingham roared back by outscoring the Crusaders 24-13 in the fourth quarter taking leads of 57-56 and 59-58 with under 2:16 to play.

Clutch free-throw shooting by senior guard Quadir Harrell and inside baskets by junior Jordan Summers got the Crusaders back on track. Harrell had 20 points with nine free throws and six assists. BOYS BASKETBALL: South Brunswick survives Montgomery in overtime

Raritan 78, South River 64: Lazaro Rodriguez finished with 13 points, seven rebounds and one assist as third-seeded South River (20-8) fell to sixth-seeded Raritan (18-7).

Roman Santos recorded 13 points, three rebounds and three assists. Jeremy Grospe totaled 12 points on four 3s, two assists and one rebound. Alex Grospe contributed eight points and seven assists. Darren Barberio chipped in six points and one assist. Kobe Taylor added five points, three blocks and two rebounds. Jared Grospe tallied five points, one assist and one rebound.

North 2 Group 4

Elizabeth 58, Watchung Hills 56: Elijah Lewis recorded a double-double with 25 points, including four 3s, 10 rebounds, three assists and two steals as top-seeded Watchung Hills (21-7) fell to ninth-seeded Elizabeth (15-6) at the buzzer.

Aleck Graf finished with nine points, five assists and one steal. Ryan Trecozzi contributed eight points, four rebounds, two steals and one assist. Brayden Kolakowski totaled seven points, four rebounds, two steals and one assist. Zach Cohen added four assists, three points and two rebounds.

Linden 64, Ridge 58 (OT): Nas Robinson finished with 19 points to pace third-seeded Linden (15-10). Nigel Merville recorded 14 points and Elijah Motley tallied 12 points. Steve Dorvil scored eight points and Brian Bowser chipped in five points. Elijah Butler, Christian Garcia and Jaylan Hodge combined for 11 points.

Arnav Arni led with 19 points for sixth-seeded Ridge (18-9). Nikola Borovicanin finished with 11 points, seven rebounds and two assists. Colin Lombardi added 12 assists, nine points and seven rebounds. Chris Dong contributed 10 points, seven rebounds and one steal. Kevin Castronovo totaled nine points, four rebounds and three assists.

Westfield 59, Edison 45: Sean Logan posted a triple-double with 23 points, 12 rebounds, 11 blocks, three assists and two steals for second-seeded Westfield (19-7).

Theo Sica added 14 points, three steals and one rebound. Zander Barraza recorded eight points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals. TJ Halloran contributed seven points, five rebounds, three steals, two assists and one block.

For No. 10 Edison (19-9), Niko Barnes led with 15 points. Elisha White totaled 14 points and Selbin Sabio scored five points. Brian Hobson, Joseph Greer and Justyn Britton combined for nine points.

Westfield will host third-seeded Linden in the semifinals on Friday.

Newark East Side 46, Franklin 43: Cam Brown led with 11 points as fourth-seeded Franklin (16-11) fell to fifth-seeded Newark East Side (13-11). Isaiah Cotten and Cameron Snowden each finished with 10 points. Elisha Brown chipped in five points. Jake Novielli and Daniel Okafor combined for seven points.

Wardlaw-Hartridge 72, Timothy Christian 51: Mehkai Huey posted 26 points, six rebounds, six assists and four steals for eighth-seeded Wardlaw-Hartridge (15-7).

Sinai Christian 68, Eastern Christian 48: Jasier Carter finished with 23 points, five assists, five steals and four rebounds as fifth-seeded Sinai Christian (13-10) won its first state tournament game in school history over No. 12 Eastern Christian (8-15).

Racine Fowler contributed 18 points, seven rebounds, three blocks and one assist. Cameron McRae added eight points and two assists. Quintrell Dixon totaled seven points, four rebounds, three assists and two blocks. Jordan Torres chipped in six points, one rebound, one assist and one block.

Sinai Christian will travel to fourth-seeded Morris Catholic in the quarterfinals.

Manville 65, South Hunterdon 49: Tyler Kesolitz posted 20 points, including six 3-pointers, for No. 10 Manville (12-12). Steve Purcell recorded 17 points. Edyrn Morales added 12 points. Stefhan Ross and Shawn Purcell each contributed eight points.

For seventh-seeded South Hunterdon (8-17), Tanner McCaffrey led with 16 points on four 3-pointers. Bryson Johnson totaled nine points. Trevor McCloughan netted six points. Jack Godown and Brayden Hinman each scored five points. Aaron Zalescik, Elio Ambrosino and Thomas Warms combined for eight points.

Manville will travel to second-seeded Keyport in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

Point Pleasant Beach 57, Highland Park 55: Ewan Haley-Lock finished with 17 points, five assists and four rebounds as ninth-seeded Highland Park (7-18) fell to eighth-seeded Point Beach (11-11).

Matt Brzozowski finished with 11 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals. Daniel Starcevic contributed nine points, four rebounds and three blocks. Perth Amboy Tech 66, Academy for Urban Leadership Charter 30: Adrian Pena finished with 26 points, including five 3s, eight rebounds, eight assists, seven steals and two blocks as fourth-seeded Perth Amboy Tech (15-10) defeated No. 13 Academy for Urban Leadership Charter (7-10).

Julius Bonilla chipped in 11 points, four rebounds, two steals and one block. Chanel Herrera and Travis Bruce each contributed seven points, three assists, two steals, one block and one rebound. Jamir Brown added six points, three rebounds, two steals and one assist. Jonas Ramos recorded five points, three rebounds and one assist.

NJSIAA TOURNAMENT

Central Group 2

Holmdel 67, Middlesex 46: Holmdel team snapped a two-game losing streak while also beginning its run in Central Group 2. The No. 4 seed Hornets led from start to finish and eventually defeated the No. 13 seed Blue Jays.

Middlesex’s Michael Salvatore produced 12 of his team-high 20 points in the first half. During that first half, Salvatore scored the 1,000th point of his career. With a jumper near the free throw line with 4:24 left in the second quarter, Salvatore reached the milestone moment. The game was temporarily paused so that family members could come down from the stands and take a picture with Salvatore and the team’s head coach. Teammates A.J. Delaware Valley 54, Hillside 36: Logan Blake totaled 16 points, including his 1,000th career point, as eighth-seeded Delaware Valley (18-9) advanced over ninth-seeded Hillside (13-8). Francis Denvir led with 27 points, including six 3-pointers. Craig Baran finished with 10 points. Justin Kolpan chipped in a 3-pointer.

Delaware Valley will travel to top-seeded Rumson-Fair Haven in the quarterfinals.

New Providence 52, Gov. Livingston 47: Jackson Zarinko led with 23 points, including six 3-pointers, five rebounds, five assists and three steals as No. 12 New Providence (11-14) defeated fifth-seeded Governor Livingston (16-5).

Will Lattmann posted a double-double with 12 rebounds, 10 assists, seven points and two steals. Scott Nook added 12 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals. Matt Demareski contributed 13 rebounds, five assists, three points and two steals. James Pazdera totaled nine rebounds, six points, two assists and two steals.

New Providence will travel to fourth-seeded Holmdel in the quarterfinals.

Rumson-Fair Haven 82, Metuchen 43: Dominic Schiappa posted 19 points as No. 16 Metuchen (11-14) fell to top-seeded Rumson-Fair Haven (18-3). Ben Santus and Max Cohn each scored eight points. Cae Emslie, Cody Cardillo, Ben Galeota and Liam Benderly combined for eight points.

South River 59, Johnson 49: Roman Santos recorded 14 points, four rebounds and two assists as third-seeded South River (20-7) defeated No. 14 Johnson (14-10).

Marlboro 86, Sayreville 50: Max Negron finished with 17 points, including five 3-pointers, as No. 16 Sayreville (11-14) fell to top-seeded Marlboro (24-2).
