Bugatti has finally released a special edition of its Chiron hypercar, three years after the car's debut. Called the 110 Ans (which means "100 years") Bugatti, it's based on the Chiron Sport and was created to celebrate Bugatti's 110th anniversary. Now this new Chiron might not seem super significant at first, given that special editions of cars like this are usually, well, special and only come around every once in a while. But the Chiron's predecessor, the Veyron, produced literally dozens of special editions over its 450-car, 10-year run, so this late emergence of the Chiron's first comes as a surprise-especially because the Chiron was originally slated to get no special editions.

Bugatti loves playing up its French heritage even though the company is now owned by the German Volkswagen Group, and the brand says the 110 Ans Bugatti is all about celebrating the company's French roots. The tricolor French flag is found on the mirror caps and the underside of the active rear wing, and the brake calipers and wheel center caps are painted French Racing Blue. The special edition gets a unique silver badge on each side of the car with the French flag and the model's name.

While it might not look it at first glance, the 110 Ans Bugatti's body actually has a two-tone finish. The front end is a matte Steel Blue carbon fiber, a new finish that Bugatti says is reminiscent of cars from the 1920s, when steel paintwork was "a sign of luxury and exclusiveness." The rear half of the car is also Steel Blue, but it's matte paint instead of carbon fiber, with Bugatti describing the color as having "a sheen like hot-rolled steel." Exterior components including the massive rear diffuser and the panel behind the side windows are glossy Steel Blue carbon as opposed to the matte carbon of the front, and the wheels, rear EB badge, exhaust tips, and rear-wing mounts are painted matte black. The contrasting but matching effect of the blue exterior is subtle, and it's not something that we've seen on any other Chiron.

The color scheme is carried through to the car's guts, with the majority of the interior wrapped in Deep Blue leather. French Racing Blue accents are found on the seats and dashboard, blue Alcantara covers parts of the seats and door cards, and there's more matte carbon fiber throughout. The 110 Ans Bugatti badge is stitched into both headrests, the French flag is embroidered as a stripe on the steering wheel rim and the center of the seats, and the key is finished in red, white, and blue leather. The final extravagant detail is a special medallion on the center console that is mounted on a carbon-fiber plate; it features the 110 Ans badge and is made from solid silver with enamel inserts. The 110 Ans Bugatti also has the Chiron's Sky View option, which consists of two glass panels in the roof bisected by the car's central spine.

Bugatti gives no price for the 110 Ans Bugatti, but it says that just 20 will be built. With the Chiron Sport already starting at $3.3 million and the Sky View option and numerous bespoke elements adding an unknown amount on top of that-the colored carbon-fiber body alone is hundreds of thousands of dollars on standard Chirons-we bet the new special edition will be at least $4 million. If you've got that kind of cash and really love France, we suggest getting calling your local Bugatti dealer ASAP, as Bugatti's special editions are usually sold out before they are even officially announced.
