Buy This 800cc Motorcycle-Powered Honda N600 to Destroy Autocrosses and Tires

From Road & Track

The first car Honda sold in the U.S., the front-wheel-drive N600, was nimble, but not exactly what you'd call "quick." If its lack of speed is an issue for you, this N600 fixes that with a 104-horse 800cc V4 from a 1997 Honda VFR800 Interceptor motorcycle. It's got a paddle-shift sequential gearbox and rear-wheel-drive. Want to lay waste to Miatas at the autocross? This is your car.

This delightful little muscle-mini was just listed for auction on every car enthusiast's favorite time suck, Bring a Trailer, and it's the perfect sort of ridiculous. The seller put a ton of effort into transforming Honda's tiny little economy car into a punchy baby monster. In addition to the drivetrain upgrades, this N600 has four-wheel independent suspension using Miata components, Koni yellow shocks, disc brakes, and 13" Minilite-style wheels.

The engine revs to 12,000 rpm and is a full 300-percent more powerful than the original 600cc unit that came from the factory. Weight is just a little over 1410 lbs and it sounds like a deranged NASCAR stocker. The gauge cluster works as intended, but there's no reverse gear. A new gearbox could fit and add reverse, but the car is light enough that you can back it up Fred Flintstone-style, with your foot out the door.

This is an incredibly impressive built, and the perfect car for someone who's just a little crazy. At the time of writing, bidding is currently up to $5500 and the auction ends next Thursday.
