You Can Buy Colin McRae's Group Bonkers MG Metro 6R4

From Road & Track

Having started his first WRC race in 1987 driving a Ford Sierra XR 4x4, Colin McRae never had the chance to try out an MG Metro 6R4 in Group B, as the series got banned a year earlier. But there's no question about his love towards British Leyland's finest hour, the 250-385 horsepower all-wheel drive monster which was the only Group B car with a naturally aspirated engine. That Cosworth DFV-based 3.0 V6 also turned out to be so unreliable that it failed at almost every race.

But Colin McRae realized the fun potential of a car with zero turbo lag and such a short wheelbase, so he bought one to be used as a course car during the 1998 season. It might have been more difficult to drive than a WRC car, but as you can see, McRae had no problem with that:

Unfortunately, the car caught on fire while he was working on it in his garage, but 'Doctor 6R4' did a full restoration on it to tarmac specifications, and now, it can be yours for a little under half a million dollars. Just don't forget to change your oil frequently...
