The 22b STi is the single, unquestioned peak Subaru. As a homologation special, it is the direct road-going equivalent of the company's most iconic rally cars. As a road car, it is the ultimate form of a late 90s Impreza celebrated in all shapes and sizes. As a collectible item, each of the 400 are rare living examples of the very best of where rally car engineering meets the road. That makes any valuable. Last year, it meant one sold for $312,555.

But this one is the fifth numbered model produced.

This 22b STi is listed on Bring a Trailer right now. Like all examples, it is powered by a 2.2-liter boxer engine rated at 280 horsepower and shifted with a five-speed manual. It comes in the blue you'd expect, and, unlike some museum-like examples, its 55,000 miles make it relatively drivable. It may not be a good idea to drive it the way a rally car is meant to be driven, mind you, but a brave owner would not be stopped by that.

If the original 22b is not enough for you, don't fret. Five days ago, legendary Subaru rallying partner Prodrive announced their own 22b-adjacent plan: a standalone car called P25 built as a modernization of the original concept. Just 25 of those hyper-specific builds will be completed, so buying an original may actually be easier.

The auction has already been bid up to $75,000 with 11 days remaining. If you plan to bid, expect a price in the mid-six figures.
