Do you sit in sorrow every day knowing Audi didn't bring the wagon version of its V8-powered RS4 stateside? Well, it seems you weren't the only one-someone built one of their own, and now it's for sale. You should buy it and fulfill your Quattro-wagon dreams.

Welcome to You Must Buy, our daily look at the cars you really should be buying instead of that boring commuter sedan.

This RS4 was built from a 2008 Audi S4 Avant (which was sold here) and a rebuilt 4.2-liter V8 engine from a US-spec RS4 sedan. Power is sent to all four wheels via an S4 six-speed manual, and an S4 limited-slip rear differential. The widened fenders are OEM RS4 pieces adapted to fit onto the wagon body, while the rear bumper is a factory European RS4 Avant item. The paint is called Cambridge Green Metallic, which, according to Bring a Trailer, is a factory Audi color available through the company's Exclusive program (think Porsche Paint to Sample). Body- and drivetrain-wise, this thing is pretty much an RS4 Avant, just with an S4 VIN and US plates.

Of course, the builder couldn't help but upgrade some things along the way. Look closely and you'll find a set of KW V3 coilovers, 365mm Brembo GT brakes up front, a JHM R-Series stage 3 clutch, a set of stunning 19-inch forged HRE wheels, and a pair of sweet Recaro Sportster C5 seats.

The car is currently up for auction on Bring a Trailer with seven days remaining and a current high bid of $15,000. There's no telling how much this thing will sell for, but considering RS4 sedans are hovering around the $30,000 range, we'd say this one will go for a bit more than that.
