Welcome to The Grid, R&T's quick roundup of the auto industry and motorsports news you should know this morning.

Halo Incoming

Cadillac has been promising a halo car for what seems like an eternity. A string of amazing concepts, like the Sixteen (above), Elmiraj, Ciel, and Escala have all hinted at a brand-topping model. But now, the company says that its halo is coming around 2022.

It seems that the halo will join a number of new crossovers in the company's lineup. It could also be one of the many fully-electric vehicles that the company will be releasing over the next decade, though we're hoping for a mid-engine Corvette-based supercar. According to Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen, it'll "stun the world." Sounds promising.

Honda's Plan

As we've written about ad nauseam, Honda hasn't had the best go of it in Formula One. The company has finished fifth twice since its return in 2015. Now, the manufacturer is partnering with Toro Rosso and wants to prove that it isn't inept when it comes to engine building.

The team did show great reliability in pre-season testing, but the performance just wasn't there in the first race in Australia. But Toro Rosso driver Pierre Gasly believes that Honda is pushing to develop the engine as quickly as possible to get the performance level up. That all sounds great, but it's also something that they've been saying for a few years. Hopefully it means something this time.

Tesla Recall

The Tesla Model S is being recalled for a steering issue. There are 123,000 cars impacted, all of them build before April, 2016. The issue in question are bolts that code corrode or come loose, causing a loss of power steering assist. You would be able to steer the car manually if it were to fail.

Please get your car fixed.
