Imagine this, but without a roof.

By now, I’m sure we’re all in agreement that every sports car should be a convertible, right? But who says the joy of feeling the wind rushing through your hair should be reserved for those of us with a sporty little number?

That’s right, it shouldn’t be – everything should, in fact, be available with no roof.

Before we start hacking away at the roofs on various coupes, sedans and SUVs, we asked you what car you thought would be better topless? These are some of your best responses.

Subaru Crosstrek

“I imagine a Crosstrek vert would be even better than the NMCC.”

For anyone out of the loop, NMCC refers to the exquisite Nissan Murano Cross Cabrio. And yes, I agree that a Subaru convertible would be almost as good.

“I don’t think these conversions look good, but Toyota should have planned this to be a hardtop/soft top from the start.”

There’s just something about a rugged off-roader with no roof that just works.

“The last Viper [Gen 5] for sure – the aftermarket even made them. So are the last RX-7's and current Challenger.”

If you’re going to build convertible versions of the first-, second-, third- and fourth-generation Viper, why not do the fifth as well?

“Give the Miata a run for its money and whack the top off the Toyobaru twins.”

Maybe one day, the answer will always be Toyobaru.

“It’s got to be the Jimny, right? It was an option right up to 2009, so why not again? Bonus points for offering it in early-90's retro shades like teal and pink.”

They used to make one, why don’t they make one anymore?

“There may be aftermarket suppliers building them, but the Chrysler LX cars deserved a crack at the OEM convertible lifestyle.

“Mopar always had moderate success with their Sebring model, no matter how terrible it was – and a move to the 300/Charger/Challenger would have been a strong seller.”

The Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger and Dodge Challenger would all look excellent with no roof. Do better, Stellantis.

“The answer is simple: 2016 Volvo S60 Polestar in rebel blue.

“Why? Glorious straight-six sounds, beautiful curves and lines, smashing fun in the twisties. Can only be made better by either being a wagon or a convertible...or a manual

“Imagine a blast down the coast along PCH in this thing!

“Volvo sadly killed its beautiful C70 convertible and never replaced it when the S60 arrived.”

Both the Volvo S60 Polestar and the new C70 would look awesome as convertibles.

“I know Mazda makes the MX-5, but idk the 3 looks better and I kinda miss convertibles versions of mass sale mid-small sized cars.”

Chop the roof off the sedan and the hatch, you cowards.

Why not just make the whole damn car fold away, while you’re at it?

“A lot of people were disappointed when Lotus didn’t offer a targa version for the new Emira

“Several photoshops on the net and in Lotus chat forums. Actually looks REALLY, REALLY good. But alas, they didn’t go this direction. I think it would have sold extremely well.”

Every sports car should be a convertible by now.

Once again for those at the back: give us a factory fresh Dodge Challenger convertible, please.
