Party planners, hospitality pros, and people with too much free time, take note: If you’re staging a car event this fall and don’t have a car-themed pumpkin on the drink table, you’re doing it wrong.

While we’d prefer to spend the season's last snow-free days carving corners rather than rotting squash, we can appreciate a premium jack-o’-lantern. We’ve browsed Pinterest and Instagram for you. And we commissioned three of our own from local artist Ronni Lynn Clark to decorate C/D's editorial headquarters in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Ferrari

Earlier in October, Ferrari owners took their steeds through New England to enjoy the last warm days of the year. Somewhere on the trip, which involved cocktails on the beach in Rhode Island, track time at Lime Rock Park in Connecticut, and some more drinks in the Berkshires, was this tailor-made, one-of-one Ferrari pumpkin.

Kia Soul

We’ve named the little Soul as one of our 10Best Trucks and SUVs but we’re not half as inspired as is this Kia dealer in Beaverton, Oregon.

Country Trucking

Our pals at Country Living magazine offer their own takes on appropriately countrified vehicles, featuring pumpkin designs depicting a generic pickup truck (find the free stencil here) and a "Woody Wagoneer", which is not so much carved as it is an application of fabric cut to the right shape by using a template.

Camper

Naturally, an elongated pumpkin with its ribbed sides turned sideways echoes an orange-painted camping trailer, and you can pair it with a second pumpkin as the tow vehicle. Pinterest reveals several variations on this theme. We had more fun playing with a real one.

Volkswagen Type 2

Recreating a VW bus in vegetable form is a fine way to spend an evening. Some people have become so creative they’ve installed pumpkin wipers and a facsimile of the original’s tilt-open windshield. You might draw more inspiration from our recent story about driving the real thing.

Nissan Leaf

The folks at Nissan Parts Plus posted a free template to help you carve your own Nissan Leaf pumpkin. Some of you may think that any electric car is a scary thing. Owners will, no doubt, be moved to use a battery-powered light source rather than firing up a candle that releases all that carbon into the atmosphere. Right?

Car and Driver

We commissioned a trio of custom pumpkins to inspire the internet-and because you didn’t do it first. Our logo and Save The Manuals! graphic are so faithfully rendered in delicate pumpkin flesh that squirrels will stop in admiration before devouring them outside our office. The skull clamping the five-speed pumpkin shift knob in its teeth scares us intensely.
