Caterham's Fastest-Selling Car Is Also Its Slowest

From Road & Track

To celebrate the Seven's 60th anniversary, Caterham built 60 special edition cars based on its entry-level Seven 160. While the Seven Sprint won't make it into America, those close enough to England got their hands on an 80-hp Suzuki three-cylinder and some very skinny tires for their £27,995 (roughly $36,300). Plus all the styling clues straight from 1956.

The public's response was to buy up all those 60 Sprints in just seven days (7!), which means Caterham managed to bring in more than 10 percent of its annual sales in a week's time.

So, quite frankly, the recepe goes like this:

  1. Take a normal car.

  2. Turn it into a nostalgic special edition.

  3. Profit.

Of course this is a win-win for all involved.
