This Is Your Chance to Own a Real-Life Ford RS200

From Road & Track

If you want a rally car for the streets, you could always buy a Subaru WRX STI. You could also, at least theoretically, buy a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo. They would both be great choices and would be a lot of fun to drive. But what if you spent a quarter-million dollars on a Ford RS200 instead? That would be a much better idea.

This particular RS200 is being sold by Mark Donaldson and is one of the 146 homologation-spec cars Ford built. It's a left-hand-drive version that makes 350 horsepower and only has 7500 miles on the odometer. You also get the Speedline split rims and racing seats. It looks like it's in incredible condition, and it even comes with a new set of tires. All yours for £175,000 or $254,000.

The RS200 is perhaps the wildest car to ever wear a Ford badge, one that in 1986 we said "has quite a lot of turbo lag and if you aren't right on top of the powerband (above 6000 rpm), the car tends to understeer a lot, then suddenly, as the power comes on, it snaps into oversteer. It's quickest to drive the car into a turn very hard, pitch it in with oversteer and maintain that attitude through the corner with the throttle."

As awesome as this car is, we hope whoever buys it appreciates it properly. Cars like this are far too cool to be turned into museum pieces.
